Music
“With a voice of singing, declare you this and let it be heard, Alleluia!”

Northwood Presbyterian Church has a fifty year history of being passionate
about music. Our choirs are diverse in musical style and membership but all are
committed to having fun and to musical excellence. Our choir members are all
volunteers with a variety of musical backgrounds and both church members and
non-members alike are invited to participate in any and all of our musical
groups.
You are invited to join our choirs:
- Chancel Choir - Rehearses Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 8:30
p.m. and leads in worship every Sunday morning.
- Bell Choir - Meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. and plays periodically in worship and on special occasions.
- Men’s Chorus meets Monday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and
sings occasionally on Sunday mornings, on special occasions and throughout
the community during the holidays.
- Our members have been known to dust their all too neglected band
instruments and form a pick up band from time to time.
Outside of worship the congregation gathers every year in December for a
musical potpourri highlighting the talents of members and friends and again in
July for an old fashioned ice cream social, an afternoon of food, fun and
patriotic music.

Children and Music at Northwood
Our children are an amazing source of creativity and often exhibit those
talents in musical ways. Northwood children and youth from Kindergarten through
High school are encouraged to participate in our musical programs and
opportunities. Sharing their talents helps them recognize their gifts and helps
reinforce the importance of worship in their lives.
In the past our children and youth groups have included:
- Choral ensembles
- Bell ensembles
- Percussion ensembles
- Mini musicals
- Various vocal and musical ensembles
- And even a rock band.
And as always at Northwood, church membership is not a requirement to
participate in any of our musical activities.
