Jesus is not giving marriage advice. He is talking about vows and faithfulness to them. Some people take these vows very seriously, and some write their own. And some go into marriage without listening to the vows at all. Marriage is the place that exposes self-centeredness more clearly than any other, because it is the nature of marriage vows to deny self-centeredness.

Jesus says we have to go way beyond the limits of not murdering someone. We have deal with our own anger that would cause us to call them names. Followers do not measure their faithfulness by what they do not do. We are called to go to our brothers or sisters and face them with our anger before we come to a table and face the one who was murdered by angry people.

Jesus says we are "light," and we should Do who we REALLY are - "shine." When we shine HIS light into the dark places of the world around us, we are just helping Christ be a light to the whole world.
